Patricia Brown Swanson passed away on January 21, 2018 after a long illness.
She was predeceased by her parents, Ethel (Haling) and William T. Brown; her husband, William H. Swanson; and infant daughter, Katherine. Pat is survived by three children, Susan, of Meriden; Joyce (Doug) of Deep River; and William of North Branford; her seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandsons, and two step-great-great-grandchildren.
Pat and her husband, Bill, owned and operated Abalin Kennels in Branford for 30 years. They were avid boaters and members of the Branford Yacht Club for many years. Pat was an artist and delighted in creating with many different mediums. She painted, drew, quilted; she loved flowers and birds, and passed her love of art and nature on to her children and grandchildren. Pat also loved to write poetry and stories.
For the last 18 years she lived very happily in Kirtland Commons, making wonderful friends who also mourn her passing. We will all miss her quirky sense of humor and all of the songs and stories that she shared. She was also very generous, always ready to give the little that she had to those who were less fortunate. Some of her favorite charities were; St. Joseph's Indian School, Smile Train (for children with cleft palate), and Ronald MacDonald House.
She is not gone, but away.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 10:00, at St. Joseph church in Chester, CT.
