On Wednesday, January 27th Cathy Lynne Lyman fell victim to COVID-19 and left us.
Born on June 1, 1958 to the late Walter A. Lyman and Ruth Sartre Lyman, she leaves her devoted partner of 37 years, Alan Scaplen. She was the loving mother of Michael John Lyman (Missy) and their sons Michael and Matthew; Christopher Scaplen, and Jay Scaplen and his daughter Makayla. She also leaves her sister, Florence and her daughters Kimberly Davis (James Pelotte), Leah Stewart (Donald) and Emily MacKensie. She was predeceased by her brother, Walter (Bo) Lyman and leaves behind his wife Patricia and daughters Tricia Gordon (Joseph) and Jana L’Etoile (Josh). In addition, many cousins and great-nephews/nieces will remember her dearly.
Cathy lived in East Hampton her entire life. For many years, she worked at Thatcher’s Corner Store and knew most everyone in town. She had a heart of gold and was the true essence of love and kindness. But you best not denigrate her family or friends, or you would be on the receiving end of a good tongue lashing.
Due to the pandemic, there will be no services at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends at a later date.
