Joseph Edward Goulet, Jr., 69, of Branford died peacefully at home on September 17th, 2021 after a long battle with rheumatoid arthritis. He was born on August 7th, 1952 at the Hospital of Saint Raphael to the late Joseph Edward, Sr.  and Jean Marie Longo Goulet, of Guilford.

Joe graduated from Guilford High School in 1970 and joined the US Marine Corps, being honorably discharged in 1973. He later joined the Army National Guard, serving as a medic, until 1988. In 1980, Joe joined the nursing department at YNHH, working for 34 years, until his retirement.

Joe was an animal lover, avid reader; and a dedicated WWF, Yankees and Jets fan.

Joe is survived by his only child, his son Derek Joseph Goulet of Guilford, his siblings; Paul Russo (Terri) of Santa Monica, California, Shirley (Ralph) Fusco of Cheshire, Paul Goulet (Joan), Carolyn Vanacore (Mark), and George Goulet, all of Guilford. He also leaves behind his niece Megan Vanacore of Fort Wayne, Indiana and his nephew Christopher Vanacore of Los Angeles, California.

There will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to a funeral liturgy service and burial with full military honors on Saturday, October 23rd, 2021 at 11:00am at the CT State Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter 749 East Main St., Branford, CT 06405.
