Mary Ann Bishop, left this world in her sleep on Oct. 5,
2020 at the age of 70 Earth years. She was born Oct. 7,
1949, to Anna Maria Rossetti Bishop and William L.
Bishop. Their sixth child, she was born prematurely.
“Good things come in small packages,” and Mary was a
strong, determined woman right up until God welcomed
her to her heavenly home.
She was predeceased by her eldest brother William S.
Bishop, and her eldest sister Cora E. Bishop. She leaves
behind to cherish her memory her sister Judith (Dominick)
Del Buco in FL, her brother Gregory (Aod) Bishop in PA,
and her sister Laura (Rocco) Lasala in CT. She is also
survived by nieces, a nephew, great-nieces and nephews,
and too many cousins and friends to count.
Mary was a life-long resident of New Haven, CT whose
interests ranged from photography, painting, embroidery
and cooking creatively.
She was a friend of “Bill W.” and became very active in
A.A. by attending daily meetings. Mary devoted her years
in A.A. as a chairperson, speaker, and sponsor to others.
She didn’t have a favorite flower, unless ‘catnip’ counts?
Her love for her cats over the years, and her caring
concern for all animals was evident to all who knew her.
She first discovered St. Paul and St. James Episcopal
Church while attending dances there during her teenage
years. Mary loved music and dancing. It seems fitting that
the Creator helped her find her way back to this church
during the last couple of years of her life. She found great
comfort, friends and a second family there.
Mary’s ashes will be interred in the Columbarium of
St. Paul and St. James Episcopal Church, in a
commitment ceremony following the “All Saints Day”
Mass, on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2020 at about 11:30 a.m. Masks
are required.
Mary’s family would like to suggest memorial donations
be made to St. Paul and St. James Episcopal Church, 57
Olive St., New Haven, CT 06511 to help them continue
their kind work with other non-profits and programs for
people in need.
