Death Certificates Securing Certified Copies

Some providers will not assist you in securing certified copies of the death certificate. These are essential for a variety of reasons. We assist you in securing your certified copies through our standard and express service options.

Death Certificates - Standard Delivery

Death certificates in the State of Connecticut are $20.00 each. We file the death certificate with the town clerk/registrar of vital statistics office in the city or town where the death occurred via registered mail. Certified copies may be picked up from our main business office in Wallingford after we receive them from the registrar. Alternatively, they can be sent to you by priority shipping with delivery confirmation for a fee of $45.00. 

Death Certificates - Express Delivery

In the event that you wish to receive your death certificates as soon as possible when the cremains are ready, we offer an Express Courier Service when the original death certificate is hand delivered and the certified copies are received right away. The fee for this service is $125.00.

Death Certificates - On Your Own

Securing death certificates may be done either through the mail or in person at the Town Clerk/Vital Statistics office in the down where the death occurred. 

Complete the Application for copy of Death Certificate available on the DPH website and mail it or bring it in person to the vital records office of the town or city where the death occurred. 

Certified copies are $20/each. Most town clerks do not accept personal checks.
