BROOKLYN, CT - Cheryl Anne (Sly) Alarie,58, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, August 22, 2019 after a long battle with cancer. She was born on November 3, 1960 to Robert and Barbara Sly and grew up in South Easton, MA. She is a 1979 graduate of Oliver Ames High School in South Easton, MA and received her bachelor's degree from Salem State College, graduating Magna Cum Laude.

She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Alarie of Brooklyn, CT; her cherished son, Steven White of Plymouth, MA; her father, Robert Sly, Sr. of West Bridgewater, MA; a sister, Deborah Mumma and her husband, James, of Dartmouth, MA; two brothers Robert Sly, Jr. of St. Petersburg, FL and Richard Sly of Largo, FL; nephews Matthew and Daniel Mumma of Dartmouth, MA; stepdaughters Amanda and Amy Alarie and many aunts, uncles, cousins, other family members and close friends. Her mother, Barbara Sly, precedes her in death.

In the late 1980's Cheryl started a business, "An Apple A Day" which she operated for a number of years, Cheryl went on to receive her Masters degree in Education from Lesley College in '2002' and was a substitute teacher for some time. Cheryl held several various jobs including an Activities Director at the Village at Willow Crossings. Cheryl had a big heart for the elderly and continued to visit a few residents long after she left the job. She was a dedicated mom to her son and always made sure he had fun, adventure and love in his life. Cheryl lived life to the fullest through caring and loving those close to her very deeply. She enjoyed entertaining at her home often with everyone always looking forward to the abundant spread of food as well as a cocktail, boat rides and a swim in their beautiful pool.

As a result of her generous spirit and outstanding personality, many loved her. She had a beautiful soul that could be felt by everyone she met and her sense of humor was a strength that she had right up until her passing. She enjoyed making people laugh and did so without any effort. She was a fun person to be around, so full of joy! She was an avid reader and belonged to a book club and Reiki group. She enjoyed traveling to various beaches and spending time with her loving family. Cheryl was a supporter of the ASPCA where she adopted her beloved dogs, Mya and Maddi. She also took in a stray kitten, Marley which she loved dearly. Cheryl took time to feed the swans on the lake and would try to save all insects inside and outside her home, as she truly was a lover of all Gods creatures, big and small! She connected with many people throughout her lifetime and will leave a footprint in the hearts of all those who knew her.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2019, 4-7pm with a prayer service starting at 7pm at Kane Funeral Home, 605 Washington St., South Easton, MA.
