Ellen Goodman, 92, recently living in North Haven, CT, but forever a loyal New Yorker, passed away on August 28.
Ellen was born in Brooklyn, NY on April 11, 1926 to David and Esther Goodman. She will be lovingly remembered for her independent streak and sense of humor, as well as the stunning sweaters and accessories she knitted for family and friends. She enjoyed traveling and attending the opera and became an accomplished painter later in life. Her greatest joy was spending time with her great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her sister Thelma Warmbrandt, her three sons Alan Cohen (Mary Jo), Spencer Cohen (Linda) and Bradley Cohen, her five grandchildren Adam Cohen (Kristin), Jennifer McClave (Norman), Erin Cohen, Trevor Cohen and Gayle Cohen, and four great-grandchildren Claire, Sophie, Braden and Tyler.
A memorial will be held for family members and friends this fall at a date yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Community Synagogue (https://commsyn.org/donate) or The Metropolitan Opera (https://www.metopera.org/support/make-a-gift/commemorative-gifts/#memorial-gifts).
