Gloria Dawson Tribute

Gloria Jean Dominica Erardi Dawson, 76, went to her eternal home on September 2, 2018 surrounded by loved ones. She is a beautiful angel now.

Gloria was born in Meriden, CT on October 14, 1941. She was youngest daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Erardi. She was the former wife of Sherwood “Woody” L. Dawson.

Gloria was a lifetime resident of Cheshire, CT, a Cheshire High School graduate and furthered her education by obtaining a CT Real Estate license and worked for ERA Inc. She also worked for Holstein Frazer Corp in Brattleboro, VT. She was an engineer at Scanoptics, and happily worked 16 years as a private home companion. Her passions were antiquing, her cat Willy, and the wildlife at her beautiful home, especially her deer named Precious who made daily visits. She looked forward to her afternoon outings with her sister Lucille enjoying a cup of coffee at Dunkin’ Donuts.

Gloria is survived by her daughter Lisa Dawson DeAngelo & husband Joseph, her son John G. Dawson and wife Mary Ann, daughter Pamela Johnson and son David Dawson all of Cheshire, CT. Gloria leaves behind seven grandchildren, Ashley DeAngelo, Officer Tyler DeAngelo, Bianca Dawson, Blake Dawson all of Cheshire, Sarah Johnson Redford and husband John of Wallingford, Michael and Matthew Johnson of Cheshire and five great grandchildren, Alan, Taylor, Nora and Mary Redford of Wallingford, and Jase Frederick-Dawson of Cheshire. She also leaves behind her sisters Lucille Handle of Cheshire and Mary Ann Bracifote of Wallingford. Gloria is predeceased by her longtime companion George Handle, Sr.

In Gloria’s own words “I was happy and know I died happy.” A celebration of her life will be held at the convenience of her family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Lady of Grace Monastery, 11 Race Hill Road, North Guilford, CT 06437. Gloria’s family would like to thank the staff from Hartford Hospital and Mid-State Medical Center for their outstanding care, kindness, and compassion though this difficult journey.
