Joseph F. Fleece Sr., 78 of Branford, passed away on October 14, 2019.
Joe was born on July 5, 1941 in New Haven to the late Helen and William Fleece. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Patricia (Ives) Fleece, his son Joseph F. Fleece Jr. (Jennifer), his daughter Melissa Gonsalves (Kenneth), his sister June Chapman, nephews William Fleece, Robert Fleece and George Prohaski, a niece Dianna Prohaski and three grandchildren Evan Chialastri, Tanner Chialastri and Gabriella Barry, as well as numerous other family and friends. He was predeceased by his twin brother William and daughter Lea.
As a member of the U.S. Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon under President John F. Kennedy, Joe was very proud of his time in the Marines Corps. Joe’s hobbies included fishing, playing pool, watching sports and telling his never-ending supply of bad jokes. He was kind and generous to everyone he met and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on October 31, 2019 in the Connecticut State Veterans’ Cemetery Chapel located at 317 Bow Lane in Middletown. Interment with full military honors will immediately follow.
