Anna May Elizabeth Connolly died peaceably on May 16th, 2026, at Branford Hospice.
She was born at home on July 17th, 1934, to Anna Oed and William Lacy. She attended grammar school in Wallingford before graduating from Hillhouse High School in New Haven. She was employed as a library page, a secretary in the insurance industry, and a bank teller, where she always made sure all the bills were facing the same way.
She met the love of her life, Joseph Francis Connolly, at Savin Rock Beach in West Haven. She ignored her mother's concerns about him having been in the army, knit him socks, and loaned him money for college. They married on October 18th, 1958. They were married for 52.5 years and would frequently ask one another, "Would you show up again?" The answer was always, "Yes."
She is survived by her son, Bryan Connolly; three grandchildren, Rachel, Zachariah, and Abigail; and two great-granddaughters, Noa and Odessa, whom she loved holding. Her grandchildren fondly recall her as a lover of BLTs, an excellent puzzler, and a maker of "jello jigglers" (their favorite treat). She will be dearly missed.
