Barbara Bell Tribute

Barbara Gerathy Bell passed away at home on October 15, 2023, at 74 years old. Barbara was born in Bridgeport Hospital on December 7, 1948, and she grew up in Monroe, CT when, as she put it, "the town was still rural."

She has lived in North Haven for 48 years and raised her children here. She leaves behind her husband of 49 years, David Graham Bell; two daughters, Heather and Jennifer Bell and Jennifer's husband Daniel Coratelli; as well as four grandsons, Evan Quigley and Aiden, Daniel Jr., and Jacob Coratelli.
Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Elizabeth (Betty) and Pierce (Hank) Gerathy; as well as her siblings, Bill Gerathy and Patricia Theis.

Barbara was a devoted wife and mother, and she adored her grandchildren.  Barbara was an artist in her own right. She enjoyed creating ceramics, macrame, painting, and crafting. Her artistry led her to building a successful leather business, where she made many of the projects by hand. She also worked as a surgical technician at a veterinary office and bred Shih-Tzus for several years.  She filled her home with love and dogs. She also adopted a goat named Precious who basically became the neighborhood mascot.

Per Barbara's request, the family will not be having a public wake or funeral but a private family memorial.  If you would like to honor Barbara's memory, please consider donating to the ASPCA or the Humane Society.
