Christopher James Aubert, affectionately known as "Fish," passed away on November 18, 2024, in New London, Connecticut, at the age of 32. Born on February 14, 1992, in San Diego, California, Chris was the beloved son of Brenda Aubert Coleman (Joe) and James Aubert.
At the age of eight, Chris (nicknamed "Bobo" by his sister), moved with his family to Connecticut, where he attended Chaplin Elementary School. He quickly became known for his friendly nature, making numerous friends. He was active in Little League baseball and Pee Wee basketball, where his team celebrated two league championships. Chris also enjoyed spending time at the skate park, forming lifelong friendships.
During his eighth-grade year, Chris's best friend Kyle became his “brother from another mother," which made the transition to Windham High School a little less intimidating for both of them. They would both graduate in 2010.
Chris's passion for music was evident from a young age, a love he shared with his dad. Together, they spent countless hours playing guitar and writing songs. In high school, Chris was a member of the heavy metal band, Letters from Kenny (LFK) - which is when he officially became "Fish" to his friends. LFK would continue to perform at multiple venues across Connecticut after graduation.
Chris's outgoing personality and infectious laugh endeared him to many. He was known for his generous spirit and quirky sense of humor. He valued his friends above all else and was proud to be a member of the "good men".
Chris is survived by his parents, sister Kelsey Dunnack, paternal grandmother Eva Aubert, niece Natalie Rodriguez, aunt Dawn Lynn Abelin, and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents William Roy Johnson and Joan Johnson Forrester, paternal grandfather Donald Frances Aubert, uncles Michael Roy Johnson, Rodney Abelin, and Robert Epperson, aunt Cathy Epperson, and cousin Joshua Ryan Johnson.
A celebration of Chris's life will be held on Friday, December 6, at the Fin, Fur & Feather Club, 213 Chewink Road, Chaplin, CT, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Friends are invited to share memories and stories in his honor.
