With profound sadness, we announce the passing of David Vetare, 55, of Shelton, CT, formerly of Norwalk, CT. David died unexpectedly on December 2, 2024, due to stress related heart complications.

He is survived by his best friend, soulmate, and beloved wife, Dana Vetare, and their cherished companion, Rocco. He also leaves behind his (step)daughter, Mackenzie Millier, and her husband, Hunter, of New Hampshire, and their son, Sawyer. David is further survived by his brothers, Richard Vetare and his wife Marsha of Monroe, CT and Scott Vetare and his wife Lynn of Norwalk, CT; nephews Michael and Steven Vetare; and niece Shelby Vetare. He was predeceased by his parents, Richard Sr. and Nancy Vetare

David graduated from Brien McMahon High School in 1987. For 32 years, David served the Norwalk Police Department with unwavering dedication and a genuine compassion that touched countless lives. He was not just a respected officer; he was a pillar of his community, known for his kindness and unwavering commitment to justice. Throughout his career he received many accolades and recognitions for the lives he served and saved.

David was an avid lover of the Raiders and the Yankees and was never happier than when he was at his second home in South Carolina sitting on the beach with a bourbon and cigar.

Even though Dave endured many traumas and tragedies in his life, he was always a beacon of light for his friends that were going through tough times, knowing they could always reach out to him. He will be greatly missed by his many friends who could always count on him for his support. While the pain of his sudden loss is immense, we find solace in the memories of his vibrant life and the positive impact he had on so many.

Due to his wishes and those of his family, services will be held by invitation only; once they are determined notifications will be made. Please feel free to reach out to the family for any further information.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to an animal rescue organization in his name – a gesture that reflects David's compassionate heart and love for animals.
