Dolores Hira

Dolores M. (Negaro) Hira, 86, peacefully, passed away after a yearlong illness at Apple Rehab in Cromwell.

She was born July 7, 1936, to the late Anthony and Jane Negaro in Waterbury. Dolores was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, David; sons David Jr. (Lori) and Donald (Robin); daughters Diane (Skip) and Doreen (Bob); granddaughters Lindsay, Jillian, Taylor, Gina, Caitie and Sarah; grandsons Dustin and Fred; great-grandsons Joseph and Ryder; great-granddaughters Briana, Nicole, and Adalyn; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Anthony Negaro.

Dolores loved cooking traditional Italian meals, baking, nature, reading, and making Sunday night pizzas. She faithfully supported her family by working at Stop & Shop, in the meat department, until her retirement. She enjoyed jazz and many private concerts at home performed by her husband David.

A Christian memorial Mass will be at St. Paul Church, 461 Alling St., Berlin, on March 20, 2023, at 10 am. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the many caregivers who cared for their beloved Dolores during her yearlong illness.
