Frank Paul Chasney, 85, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026. Born on January 6, 1941, in New Haven, he was the son of Dorothy and George Chasney and brother of Judy Cooper, and his late brothers, George and Kneeland Chasney.
Frank proudly served his country from 1959 to 1963 during the Cold War as a communications specialist, stationed in Germany on the Berlin Wall. He continued a lifetime of service and tradition through 18 years of volunteer commitment with the 2nd Company Governor’s Foot Guard, where he served as Drum Major. Frank was also a proud member of Lancraft Fife & Drum of North Haven for many years, and a vital member of the West Haven Veterans Museum serving as President for eleven years.
Frank is survived by his children, Cindy Andrews and Jackie McGrath; son-in-law, Shane McGrath; his sister, Judy Cooper; his grandchildren, Eric, Dylan, Leah, and Jake; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the West Haven Veterans Museum, 30 Hood Terrace, West Haven, Connecticut, on June 6, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the museum in Frank’s memory: West Haven Veterans Museum
