Jacqueline "Jacki" Thompson Colvin, a cherished wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on December 3, 2024, at Connecticut Hospice in Branford, Connecticut, following a stroke.
Born on June 28, 1936, in Washington, D.C., to Helen and David "Jack" Thompson, Jacki graduated from Suitland High School in 1954. She married Donald Victor Colvin and together they raised three children while she worked at the Export Import Bank. In 1983, Jacki and Donald relocated to North Carolina, and in 2005 they moved to Connecticut to be closer to their young grandchildren. Jacki was known for her love of North Carolina beaches, reading, gardening, and enjoying meals in the North Haven Community. She was affectionately recognized as the "woman with the white hair" and her handsome husband of 69 years.
Jacki was a dedicated community member, volunteering at hospices for more than 20 years. She was an active participant in the Methodist Church of Swansboro, N.C., where she and her husband sang in the choir and enjoyed the "Joy, Sunday" class.
Jacki was tragically preceded in death by her son, David L. Colvin (Charlotte Tyler Colvin). She is survived by her sisters, Judith Thompson Gainer (Bill) and Donna Lee Thompson Ruiz (Anthony), her daughters Dorene Ernst (Paul) and Donna Nemeth (Louis), nieces Julie Harper and Tracy Curtis (Leo), nephew Eric Garrison (Camila), and grandchildren Jason and Donald Ernst and Frances and Alexander Nemeth. In addition, she dearly loved her great nieces and nephews: Crystal Curtis, Ashley Dare, Brandi Acosta and Trey Harper (Leslie) and Isabella & Selena Garrison.
Jacki was deeply loved by all who knew her. A memorial service will be planned for a later date.
