Joann Marie Romei Antonucci, aged 83, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2025 at Autumn Lake Nursing Home in Cromwell, CT with family by her side. She was born on September 18, 1941, in West Haven, CT to the late Michael and Josephine Romei. She was a resident of West Haven, CT and loved the beach. She graduated from West Haven High School in 1960 and went on to hairdressing school.
Joann married Harry N. Antonucci on April 20, 1963 at St. Lawrence Church, in West Haven, CT. Joann worked proudly as a hairdresser and later worked in the office of her husband’s business, Harry’s Northford Garage. Joann was a member of the Catholic Church, she loved to sing and dance, and in her later years was an active member of the Senior Center and enjoyed volunteering with them at local nursing homes. Joann’s greatest passion was her grandchildren, who she often expressed were the greatest gift she was ever given.
Joann is preceded in death by her son, James Michael Antonucci, and her brothers Joseph and Vincent Romei. She is survived by her husband, Harry; her daughters, Anne Wozniak (Stephen) and Pamela Palmieri (Frank); her three grandchildren, Regina Charton (Stephen), Rachel Palmieri-Slossberg (Shane), and Frank A. Palmieri; and her two great grandchildren Luke and Eli Charton. Her sisters Teresa Cusano, Patricia Ganun, Carmella Lubenow (Paul), her brother Michael Romei, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Joann will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of all who knew her. Family and friends are invited to reminisce and honor the life of Joann with a mass at the Church of the Resurrection, located at 115 Pond Hill Rd, Wallingford, CT on June 10, 2025 at 10am.
