Lehré Fuller Tribute

Lehré (Lindsey) Fuller, 84, peacefully passed away at home, surrounded by her family and dear caregiver, Nickisha, on March 22, 2025, in Shelton, Connecticut.

Born on January 21, 1941, in Paris, Illinois, Lehré was a farmer's daughter and knew the hard work that went along with running a farm. Her education began in a one-room schoolhouse. Her sewing skills were passed down from her mother and she built upon those skills in the 4-H. Lehré had a love for music from a young age, singing in church, and mastering both the piano and organ. A passion for history and politics shaped her perspective on the world, and she carried these interests with her throughout her life. At Paris High School, she was a dedicated student and athlete, who ran track before continuing her education at Illinois College in Jacksonville, Illinois. There, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and was a proud member of the Gamma Delta Literary Society.

Lehré married David H. Fuller in 1964, with whom she built a loving family. She was a devoted mother to Deborah Penn (Craig), David A. Fuller (Kimberly), and James Fuller. Lehré was blessed to have seven grandchildren: Samantha (Ashley), Joselyn, Lindsay, Halle, Cyrus, Ethan and Avery. She also cherished her sisters Barbara Bergdolt (Terry), Elizabeth Gough (Ken) and sister-in-law Linda Lindsey (David). She was predeceased by her parents, Lloyd and Francis Lindsey, as well as her brother, David Lindsey.

A woman of deep faith, Lehré found great joy in worship and prayer throughout her life. She shared her musical talents with the churches she attended, offering comfort and inspiration through song and her 35 years as an organist. Her love for quilting reflected both her creativity and patience, while gardening brought her peace and fulfillment. Music remained an integral part of her life as she continued to play the piano with grace also instilling an appreciation for the joyful sounds within her children.

However, Lehré's love for her children and grandchildren was the shining example she set for others. She was fiercely devoted to supporting and encouraging her family. Lehré traveled to as many activities as she could, whether in Connecticut, New Hampshire, or back to Illinois. She took great pride in attending and cheering for a grandchild participating in basketball, softball, hockey, or lacrosse games, or performing on the stage of a theater. Lehré was the ultimate professional grandma and her presence and support reflected the unwavering love she had for them.

Lehré's kindness, faithfulness, and dedication to those she loved will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church, located at 2475 Easton Turnpike in Fairfield, Connecticut.
