Marie Blomquist, born on August 22, 1951, in New Haven, CT, passed away on November 20, 2023, at Middlesex Hospital in Connecticut after a short but courageous battle against Cancer. She was 72 years old.
Growing up in Madison, CT, Marie graduated from Daniel Hand High School in 1969, marking the beginning of a life filled with remarkable experiences and contributions. Her career path was diverse as were her many passions and interests. She showcased her talent and dedication as a server and manager in several popular restaurants along the Connecticut shoreline. Additionally, she devoted part of her life working as a veterinary assistant in both Connecticut and Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
Marie possessed a profound affection for animals, a skillful finesse for dancing, and an ardent love for the music of Joni Mitchell, Huey Lewis, and many others. Her heart was open to all, embodying an inclusive spirit that touched countless lives. Among her cherished places, Old Orchard Beach, Maine held a special spot in her heart. Each July, she found joy in spending cherished weeks there. Marie was a talented craftswoman and won many first-place ribbons from the Guilford Fair in several categories.
Marie is survived by her son, Jason DeFrancesco (Meaghan) of Tustin, CA, her sister Jeanne (Judson) of Kensington, CA, and sister Diane of Saco, ME. She was predeceased by her mother Antoinette, father Roy, sister Patricia, and brother Roy Eric.
In honor of Marie's life, a beachside Celebration of Life will take place in July of 2024 at Old Orchard Beach, Maine, a place she cherished dearly. The ceremony will center on a tribute to her love for the beach.
Marie Blomquist's presence will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her. Her contagious spirit, unwavering kindness, and vibrant energy will continue to inspire us all.
The family would like to offer sincere gratitude to the many doctors, nurses, care associates, social workers, and chaplains at Middlesex Hospital who made Marie's remaining days as comfortable as possible.
