WOODBURY – Mark William McDermott of Woodbury, age 70, passed away peacefully on Aug. 4, 2024, at Waterbury Hospital after a long illness.
Mark was born in Waterbury on April 19, 1954, the son of Jean K. and the late John P. McDermott. He was a Union City resident who moved to New York as a young adult.
Having an entrepreneurial spirit, Mark loved trying new ventures and would pour all of his energy into them. He enjoyed photography and cooking and recently began creative writing with the help of a supportive coach. He studied holistic medicine and was considered to be a master herbalist. Mark also had a flair for fashion and spent a great deal of time searching for bargains on designer clothing to sell and share.
Besides his mom, Mark is survived by his brothers, Paul (Sina) of Naugatuck, Kevin of Waterbury, and Christopher (Carlos) of Orlando, Fla.; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was especially close to his nephew Tom Buonocore. Mark was predeceased by his sister Diane of Woodbury, where he made his home for many years.
There are no calling hours.
