Myoung Hee Yi

Myoung Hee Yi passed away on January 8, 2023 at the age of 61 after a courageous battle with cancer. She passed peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her loved ones at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport, CT.

Myoung Hee was born on February 28, 1961 in South Korea to Sung Baek Yong and Oh Jung Hwan. After graduating high school in South Korea, she immigrated to the United States where she studied and obtained her Manicurist license. She went on to operate her own businesses in the state of Connecticut. 

Myoung Hee met and married her husband, Jung Bok Yi. Together, they had one son, Duck Ki Yi. Myoung Hee was a beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend. She is survived by her husband, son, and daughter-in-law (Janice Yi) who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

“Stand straight and tall,” she would say to her son. “Be proud of who you are, your beginnings, your name, and what you were given.”

The family would like to extend the utmost gratitude to the men and women of St. Vincent’s Medical Center and Hartford Healthcare who cared for Myoung Hee the last two years. A private ceremony will be held by the family to celebrate her life. The Cremation Society of New England is honored to have been entrusted with Myoung's care and final arrangements.
