Richard C. Chuckrey, age 75, passed away in the early morning of May 16, 2022, at Yale New Haven Hospital, in New Haven, CT.
Richard was born on September 30, 1946, in Randolph, VT, to the late Eleanor and Steven Chuckrey. After moving to Connecticut as a young child, Richard later became a graduate of Eli Whitney High School, where he learned to become a skilled carpenter and craftsman. Richard spent many years building houses with his uncle and would later use these skills to improve upon houses of his own. Working and constructing with his hands brought Richard immense joy in life, the results of which continue to impress those around him even to this day.
Richard was thrice married, most recently to Kathleen Nolan of North Haven, CT, with whom he maintained a life-long friendship and would lovingly refer to as his "best ex-wife." Their relationship transcended tradition and his love and gratefulness to her expanded beyond this life. From his previous marriages, Richard was blessed with two children: Richard Chuckrey, Jr. and Michael Chuckrey.
Richard was an exceptional father and friend and truly did the best that he could with what he was given in this life. He was the one person to reach out to for a phone call to lift up your day, and the feeling of hearing his dependable salutation of "Love you. See you. Bye." will continue to live on in the thoughts and hearts of his loved ones.
Richard is survived by his children, Richard and Michael; two brothers, David and Steven; eight grandchildren, Julian, Kayla, Elijah, Kylie, Jeremy, John Michael, Laci; and Louie, who will grace us with his presence in the coming months; and best ex-wife and friend, Kathleen Nolan. Richard is preceded in death by his sister, Kathryn Chuckrey.
At his request, Richard will be buried in Randolph, VT, the place of his birth. Services will be private.
