Rita Hubbell departed earthly life to join her husband in eternal peace, Mar. 31, 2025, aged 99 years. In her last days she was comforted and cared for by family members and staff at Brandywine in Litchfield, where she resided. Previously she has lived in Southbury, CT, and had made a home in Stuart, FL Rita was the daughter of Hugh and Bridget Burns, and twin of the late Robert Burns of Naugatuck. She was the wife of the late Ted A. Hubbell Sr. and a resident of Naugatuck for most of her life.
She is survived by two daughters: Nancy Kausyla and Susan (Robert) Jones, and daughter-in-law Deborah Hubbell. She was the mother of the late Ted A. Hubbell Jr. She leaves five grandchildren: Hillary (Steve) Hubbell-Flinn, Justin Hubbell, David Kausyla, Ingrid Kausyla, and Emily (Alex) Hunt. In addition, she was great-grandmother to: Mario Ramos, Grace Kausyla, David Kausyla, Oliver Boroski, Nora Hunt and Ben Hunt. She also leaves many nieces and nephews, among them Robert, Thomas and Kevin Burns, whom she shared a special fondness with. She was also blessed with many dear friends, neighbors and caregivers.
Rita was a graduate of St. Francis School, Naugatuck High School and a member of St. Francis Church. Deeply saddened by her loss, we are grateful for many treasured memories and thankful for her longevity and good health, which allowed her an active lifestyle until her last days. An inspiration to all who knew her, we will miss her beautiful presence and honor her legacy forever.
