Russell William Aldrich, 76, of Farmington passed away peacefully on September 27, 2021.
Russell was born February 5, 1945 in Norwich, CT, the son of the late Russell and Gladys (Cruthers) Aldrich.
Russ, or Rusty as he was known to many, was a beloved father, grandfather (Bumpa), son, brother, uncle, friend and teacher. He was a teacher in the Bristol school system for over 30 years. He began his career at South Side School and later moved to Chippens Hill Middle School where he taught until his retirement in 2002. Russ adored teaching and loved his students. He was a favorite among his students and thoroughly enjoyed being able to reconnect with many of them via social media over the last few years. He loved residing at Village Gate where he had made numerous friends over the 4 years he lived there. Russ also enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles.
Russ is survived by his daughters Erin Straka and her husband Brian of Oviedo, FL and Tracey Aldrich and her husband Jon Sharpe of Newmarket, NH. He is also survived by his 4 grandchildren: Linnaea and Alexa Straka and Isabella and Caden Sharpe as well as his ex-wife, Mary Ellen Aldrich and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Russ was predeceased by his sisters Mary Lou Barry and Nancy Longo.
A celebration of life will be planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the World Wildlife Fund.
