Thomas Scelfo Tribute

Thomas Scelfo, of Northford, CT, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, May 12, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Lucille (Porri) Scelfo.

Born in Flushing, NY, on August 11, 1948, Tom was the son of the late Anthony and Concetta (Muscara) Scelfo.

A proud veteran, Tom served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he built a successful career as a consulting engineer at Woodard and Curran in Cheshire, CT, where he worked until his retirement in late 2014.

A man of many passions and talents, Tom built his beloved log house in 1978, which he meticulously maintained and continuously improved throughout his life. He had a great love of anything with a motor, whether it was his Stihl chainsaw, his John Deere tractor, or his beloved Porsches. He was an active member of the Connecticut Valley Region of The Porsche Club of America, and contributed his expertise to the Hazardous Waste Committee in his town of North Branford. An avid gardener, he found particular joy in propagating fig trees from Lucille’s grandfather’s fig tree from Sicily. Tom also enjoyed traveling, woodworking, and embracing all things outdoors. Known for his keen intellect, he was a lifelong learner, often seen multitasking with earbuds, engrossed in an audiobook, or diligently working on his computer, absorbing data, and creating endless spreadsheets.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Lucille; his son, Tony, and his wife, Eryka, of Broomfield, CO; forever cherished and remembered by his three grandchildren, Garrett, Teagan, and Preston; his sister, Patricia Baiera, and her husband, Ross; as well as numerous extended family and friends.

Connecticut Cremations has been entrusted with the arrangements. In accordance with Tom's wishes, there will be no calling hours, and services will be private, held at the convenience of the family.
