Trudy Guth, 80, of Wallingford, CT, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2025, at Yale New Haven Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Jeffrey Guth.
Born on August 6, 1945, in Exeter, NH, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Marjorie (Cleary) Berry. Trudy grew up in Stratham, NH, and attended Exeter High School.
Trudy is survived by her loving husband, Jeff; her daughters, Dawn Kawulicz (Philbrick) and husband Peter of Lewes, DE, and Alaina Yates (Philbrick) of New York, NY; her honorary daughter, Rose-Anne Naime (Habre) of Trinidad and Tobago; her brothers, William Berry of Bristol, RI, and Kenneth Berry of Live Oak, FL; her grandchildren, Jake Kawulicz and his wife Leylanie of Philadelphia, PA, Jordan Kawulicz of New York, NY, and Avyn Yates of New York, NY; and her great-grandson, Bodhi Kawulicz of Philadelphia. She was predeceased by her sister, Kathy Laurin, and her brother, Donald Berry.
Trudy was the second of five children and grew up on her family’s dairy farm. She was a city girl at heart, but her one attachment to farm life was her horse, Linda. In high school, she was a class officer and captain of the cheerleading squad. She loved camping with her family and spending summers swimming, boating, and water skiing on Great Bay, where her grandparents summered. Later, her parents purchased a camp on Lake Winnipesaukee, where she created cherished memories with her family. Trudy is lovingly remembered as a “card enthusiast," happily teaching and playing countless games with family and friends at the “Lake.”
Trudy settled in Connecticut and spent her working career at Allegheny Ludlum Steel and later with Theis Precision Steel. While working full-time, she earned her associate's degree in business.
Faith was a cornerstone of Trudy’s life. She was a devoted member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, where she served in many roles and gave her time wholeheartedly. She believed “that the true richness of life came through service to others.” After retirement, Trudy continued that mission as a Lay Chaplain at Masonicare, where she provided spiritual and emotional support to residents. She also volunteered as meal coordinator on behalf of St. Paul’s, preparing meals for the Wallingford Emergency Shelter.
Trudy had a deep love of travel, sharing many adventures with family and friends. She was passionate about Broadway musicals, gardening, entertaining, and reading. She was a talented cook who delighted in gathering loved ones around her table.
Trudy leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and love.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, October 18th, at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 65 North Main Street, Wallingford, CT 06492. A luncheon will follow the service. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church St. Paul's Donations or to Mercy Ships, PO Box 2020, Lindale, Texas 75771.
